Put that date on your calendar.
Please.
Even if you are not a joiner, even if you can’t wait to get home and take your shoes off after a long day at work, at 5:30 PM on Monday, October 5th, 2009, please join the members of Empire Servicedogs Program at Channing Hall, 405 Washington Avenue in Albany and watch these amazing service dogs do their thing.
Four yellow Labradors – bred, raised and in training – have earned their CGC (Canine Good Citizen) and TDI (Therapy Dog International) certifications and are on their way to becoming partners to someone you know who needs help doing basic activities that we take for granted. Reaching, holding, carrying, picking things up, opening doors. And so much more.
Yes, there will be a silent auction, refreshments, and a great speaker: veterinarian Matthew Brunke, DVM of Shaker Veterinary Hospital talking about working dog injuries and their rehabilitation. But the dogs – come for the dogs – and give this young organization the support it needs to continue its important work.
