Dress the Dogs With Boughs Of…

‘Tis the season to trim your dog. Sorry, I meant tree.

It’s holiday party time!

We humans like to look our best during the holidays, and of course, some of us are compelled to extend that festive attitude to our canine companions.

Personally, I think dogs look fabulous in the fur coats nature gave them. Safety necessitates that we put no-nonsense nylon collars on them, embellished with utilitarian bling like ID tag, rabies tag, and dog license.

You may feel the need to change up this admittedly drab attire, particularly if you frequent The Christmas Tree Shop or became infected with the holiday spirit oh, around Labor Day.

Whatever your seasonal sensibilities are, please keep in mind that many of these collars are only made to last for the duration of said holiday, and no longer.  These flimsy, poorly constructed collars are for decorative purposes only.

If that pretty collar should snap, tear, or loosen and come off while you are out walking with your dog, the potential tragedy that could occur is just not worth the fashion statement.

Your best bet is to have your pup ALWAYS wear his regular collar – tags and all. He can be safe yet still don the fancy collar – or other Yuletide wear – to delight the guests at your holiday party.
